Accommodations and FAQs

Is there captioning?

All panels and films in Access:Horror do have captioning. Each film has optional captions that can be turned on and each panel will be live-captioned on both the livestream and pre-recorded panels.

All live panel discussions via Zoom will also have the captions available via Stream Text accessible by opening this Stream Text link into the browser on your personal devices (phone, tablet, computer) or by scanning the QR code below. NOTE: Stream text will only appear while the live-panel takes place, at the scheduled event times.

Is there ASL interpretation?

All panels in Access:Horror will have live ASL interpretation in the virtual space. The livestream will include the ASL interpretation next to the speaker’s image.

Is there audio description?

All films in the Superfest Disability Block (Dead End Drive, Don't Come In... Yet, Bebe AI, Our First Priority) have an available open audio description and captioning version available in the film playlists . To view the film with Audio Description, select the film titles ending with “AD+OC” (meaning “audio description and open captions).

If you rely on audio description to view the films, we offer you a complimentary 2023 Audio Description Pass with free access to the audio described films. To receive free access, email us at: info@accesshorror.com with the subject "Audio Description Pass". If you previously purchased a Film Pass or All Access Pass, please contact us for refund on films.

We apologize for the limited number of fully accessible films. In following years we aim to support filmmakers in crafting audio description for a fully inclusive experience. Learn more about our future plans for Blind/Low Vision and Deaf/Blind accommodations by emailing us at info@accesshorror.com!

What if I can’t afford a ticket?

The goal of Access:Horror is to be both physically accessible as well as financially accessible. If you need a sliding scale ticket, please reach out to us at info@accesshorror.com and we’ll help you out.

How will Q&As work?

Each live panel discussion via Zoom will include an audience Q+A, and we would love for you to take part in the conversation. If you have a question for the panelists, you can either:

  • Send it to us in advance via this Audience Questions Form to read out during the event

  • Write it in the chat during the event

  • Click the Raise Your Hand button in Zoom during the event.

During the event, we will ask you via chat if you would like to ask your question live yourself (in that case we will notify you and unmute your mic), or for our moderator to ask it for you.

Are there scheduled breaks? Am I able to view at a later time?

All of our panels are scheduled with a 15 minute break between them. You are also able to pause films and pre-recorded panels or exit them and return later. There is no time restriction based on when you press play.

For Pass holders, any events for which you have reserved tickets - films and panels - will be available for an Accessible Viewing Period open for two weeks after it happens Live (through July 22nd or 23rd). Pass sales and ticket reservations will close July 9th, so make sure you purchase and reserve in advance to ensure your access to the Accessible Viewing Period.

Do films have content warnings?

Each film has noted on the landing page any content warnings of note, including strobing, flashing, sexual violence, extreme or disturbing imagery, and others. Please note all warnings before proceeding to screen a film to ensure content is safe for you.

From where in the world can I access this content? Is there geo-locking?

The panels of Access:Horror can be viewed from anywhere in the world. The films can only be viewed from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany and Greenland, due to arrangements with filmmakers.

What else is available?

If you need anything beyond what is described here, please reach out to us by filling in the “Request Access” form at the top of this page. If you have further questions, please reach us at info@accesshorror.com.
